On December 15, 2023, occurred the closing of the conference of the project Integrated System for Complex Environmental Research and Monitoring in the Danube River area, REXDAN, contract no. 309/10.07.2020, SMIS code 2014+: 127065, project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Competitiveness Operational Program 2014-2020, "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati participated as beneficiary.

The project’s manager opened the conference, Prof. Catalina ITICESCU, PhD, who presented the most relevant aspects of the writing and implementation periods of the project, and Prof. Puiu-Lucian GEORGESCU, PhD, Rector of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, as representative of the project beneficiary. He underlined the importance of the project, both at regional and national levels, as well as at the European level, considering its result, an exceptional research infrastructure, the REXDAN Research Infrastructure (IC REXDAN). Prof. Mirela VOICULESCU, PhD, presented the objectives of the project, the status of the indicators assumed by the grant application, the project’s activities, and its results. The REXDAN Research Infrastructureis currently completed, consisting of a fixed research center and a research vessel, served by over 280 state-of-the-art research equipment located in laboratories for instrumental, physicochemical analysis, spectrometry, chromatography, genetics, bathymetry, topography, ecology, radiometry, atmosphere, climatology, and biodiversity.

The laboratory’s managers made a brief review of the equipment, detailing the technical characteristics of the most relevant equipment purchased and used in the project and the results obtained in each of the many research fields concerned.

The end of the conference was reserved for discussions regarding, on the one hand, ensuring the sustainability of REXDAN IC by constantly writing and implementing projects and by completing the network of local specialists with international specialists, and, on the other hand, increasing the visibility of the activities carried out and the results obtained within this infrastructure.
