Today, June 12, 2023, the rector of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, Prof. univ. dr. Eng. Puiu-Lucian GEORGESCU received the title of doctor honoris causa from the State University "Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu" from Cahul. This prestigious distinction was awarded to him in appreciation and recognition of his significant contributions to the development of education and research, both in Romania and abroad.

"The distinction I received today represents, for me, a recognition of the value of our partnership, born 24 years ago, to which generations of teachers, students and, of course, firstly the rectors of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati and "Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu" State University of Cahul have contributed. Over these 24 years, efforts have been made, starting from a normal attraction between these two prestigious academic institutions belonging to the same region, speaking the same language, and feeling, in many areas, the same. I particularly appreciate the presence of Mr. Mayor in the hall, proof that the academic activity is well anchored in the realities of the community, and I also thank the presence of guests from Romanian consular officials and high officials from the Republic of Moldova", said the Rector of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, prof. dr. eng. Puiu-Lucian GEORGESCU.
