At the proposal of the Faculty of Automatic Control, Computers, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati will confer on Monday, June 12, the title of doctor honoris causa to the doctor of habilitat engineer Silviu-Iulian NICULESCU.

 Research director grade I (Senior scientific researcher I degree) in CNRS – France (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – National Center for Scientific Research), member of the CNRS L2S Laboratory (Laboratoire de Signaux et Systèmes – Laboratory of Signals and Systems), one of the largest research laboratories of France, Mr. Silviu-Iulian NICULESCU is one of the most active and prolific specialists in the field of theoretical and applied Automation,  promoter and leading representative of the new stage in the development of the theory and applications of dynamical systems described by equations with misplaced argument.

Regarding the collaboration with the Faculty of Automatic Control, Computers, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Silviu-Iulian NICULESCU helped to raise the level of the joint conference "International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing", a conference where our faculty is co-founder at the level required by the technical co-sponsorship of IEEE - Control Systems Society, starting with 2010. Thus, through the support given to the conference, the conference came to be organized in a joint-conference system by the automatic control and computers teams from the universities in Iasi, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Craiova and Galati. Also, through his efforts, it was possible to bring to Romania in 2023 the prestigious Conference European Control Conference, a conference at which the Faculty of Automatic Control, Computers, Electrical Engineering and Electronics is involved in its organization.

Silviu NICULESCU is today in full creative power, opening new directions in his field of activity and competence, "generating" results, preparing people, and founding institutions (magazines, collections, series of scientific events, collectives and working groups).

The ceremony will take place on Monday, June 12, 2023, starting at 11.00, in the Senate Hall of the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati.
