Dozens of representatives of national and international sports forums, researchers from university sports centers in the country and abroad, students, participated today in the opening ceremony of the european fieps congress and of the International Scientific Conference "Sport, Education, Culture – Interdisciplinary Approaches in Scientific Research".

"It is an honor for me to welcome participants from over 40 countries. I am convinced that there will be three days of hard work and presentations at the highest level. In the educational process, the field of physical education is an extremely important one because it is in collaboration with all other areas of education", said the rector of the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, prof. univ. dr. ing. Puiu-Lucian GEORGESCU.

Along with the rector of DJUG, at the begining of the opening ceremony, there also were Gabriel TALAGHIR, dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Almir ADOLFO GRUHN, president of FIEPS World, Dario NOVAK, president of FIEPS Europe, Uri SCHAEFER, president of the International Council for Sports Sciences and Physical Education, Louisette-RENÉE THOBI, secretary general of the Confederation of Sports Ministries of French-speaking countries.

Professors and researchers from over 40 countries on 5 continents responded to the invitation to participate in the two exceptional events. From the country, representatives from most of the university centers in the field participate. Also, representatives from the pre-university education with sports profile from Galati, Braila and Buzau counties participate.

During the two events, 6 workshops will be organized: 2 in Galati and one in Buzau (didactics of physical education), 2 in the field of physical therapy and recovery and one in the field of general pedagogy. The activities will take place in the D Corps of the Science Campus and at the headquarters of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport.

This year's event is dedicated to celebrating 100 years since the foundation of FIEPS and 75 years of higher education at the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati.
