On Friday, March 24, 2023, The Cross-Border Faculty withn the „Dunărea de Jos” University of Galati has inaugurated the Romanian-Ukrainian Cultural Centre, a body that conforms to the cross-border specific of the faculty that targets academic communities of the two countries involved in advertising and capilatisation of the Romanian and Ukrainian cultural heritage with the aim of maintaining an inter relationship with the perspective of the geographical and geopolitic conditions.

The Romanian-Ukrainian Cultural Centre promotes permanent education, supports advancements and innovations in the cultural domain of activity, all the while strengthening and developing partnerships as well as national and international cooperation relationships with institutions, organisations, scientific and cultural organisation with the common scope of affirming cultural and linguistic identity of the ethnic Romanian population from the former historical province.

Over 70 renowned people of the academic world of Galati participated at the event, including representatives of higher education from Ukraine and the republic of Moldova, representatives of the Consulate and Embassies, as well as representatives of the Department for the Relation with Romanians Abroad.

The event commenced with a memorial service of the victims of the Ukrainian War and those who contributed to the foundation of the Cross-Border Faculty, an institution that was officiated by the representative of „Dunarea de Jos” Archiepiscopacy, priest Lucian Vasile Pietroaia, along with his Holiness Father Veniamin, bishop of Southern Bessarabia.
